VideoANT Assignment

Here is my annotated video. It is a clip from the movie Amelie, which is one of my top ten favorite movies, it is such an amazing film! I couldn't figure out how to trim the clip down, so you can either watch the entire thing or just jump to the first annotated segment. I love the last part of this clip though, so I recommend watching all of it. Enjoy!

  1. I first watched this movie with my roommate in Duluth, who taught English in France for a year (he speaks fluent French). He made we watch it twice - the first time with subtitles so I knew what was going on, the second time without subtitles so I had to focus on the visuals. The camera work in the film is excellent, and you make a lot of notes about the way camera motion and distance influence the shots in your clip. Camera work is such an important part of film, but people rarely notice it. You seem to have an eye for it; maybe you should consider cinematography!

And the shot you point out in annotation 5, with Amelie squished up against and fogging the glass is one of my favorite images from the movie - it was one of the images that struck me when I was watching without subtitles - it says so much about what's happening in addition to looking cool.
